This transformative course empowers participants to identify, understand, and address lateral violence, a harmful form of behaviour that often arises in community and workplace settings as a result of historical trauma, oppression, and unresolved conflict. Through a strengths-based approach, we shift the focus from harm to healing by introducing the practice of Lateral Kindness—intentional actions that promote empathy, respect, and support among peers.

Participants will:

  • Explore the root causes and impacts of lateral violence on individuals, teams, and communities.
  • Learn practical strategies to disrupt harmful patterns and replace them with positive, compassionate interactions.
  • Develop tools to build and maintain a culture of safety, trust, and mutual respect.

By the end of the course, learners will be equipped to foster meaningful change—helping to create healthier, more supportive environments where everyone can thrive.
